Why Moms Choose Crave Brothers Fresh Mozzarella for National Salad Month

Waterloo, WI, April 17, 2018—For many of us, Mother’s Day may serve as a reminder of all the ways our mothers encouraged us to eat healthy foods, including lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.  During National Salad Month in May, you can create especially satisfying salads for spring by featuring Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese Fresh Mozzarella. The following three recipes are simple enough to add to your Mother’s Day menu, but they’re also ideas you can enjoy all month long.  Like other Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese varieties, Fresh Mozzarella is made with milk from the family’s own dairy herd, and is produced using 100% green power.

No matter which style of Crave Brothers Fresh Mozzarella you choose, you’ll discover that it has the artisanal quality and fresh milk flavor that moms appreciate. The cheese has received nearly 40 awards, including its most recent honor, the First Place Award for Marinated Fresh Mozzarella in the 2018 World Cheese Championships. Crave Brothers Fresh Mozzarella comes in a variety of sizes and shapes so you can incorporate it into just about any salad you make. Fresh Mozzarella comes packed in water to keep it fresh.

Crave Brothers Fresh Mozzarella options include one-pound balls and logs, 8-ounce balls, and containers of perline (pearl size), ciliegene (cherry size), bocconcini (ball size), ovoline (egg size), and ciliegene marinated in an olive oil/canola oil blend with herbs and spices.

Crave Brothers Fresh Mozzarella Ciliegine (cherry size) is just right for making Marinated Herbed Tomato Salad. Combine two 8-ounce containers of Fresh Mozzarella Ciliegine with six ripe tomatoes cut into wedges, two sliced sweet bell peppers, one sliced Spanish onion and one cup pitted black olives. Dress the salad with a vinaigrette seasoned with fresh parsley, green onion, a teaspoon of sugar, and ½ tsp. each of dried basil and dried marjoram.

Crave Brothers Fresh Mozzarella (logs or balls of Mozzarella work well) gives Fresh Mozzarella Pasta Salad its personality and pizzazz.  Start with cooked penne or bowtie pasta and Crave Brothers Farmstead Classics Fresh Mozzarella cut into cubes.  Add two chopped fresh tomatoes, ¼ cup chopped fresh basil, 1/3 cup balsamic vinaigrette and salt to taste.

Crave Brothers Fresh Mozzarella Ovoline (egg-sized) is one of the co-stars in Fresh Mozzarella, Strawberry and Mint Salad. Using an 8-ounce container of Crave Brothers Fresh Mozzarella, slice the ovolines ¼-inch thick. Combine ½ pint of fresh strawberries with 3 Tbsp. sugar, and add to the Fresh Mozzarella Slices.  To make the dressing, blend extra virgin olive oil, fresh mint leaves and balsamic vinegar in a blender, then pour over the salad; toss before serving.
